Here’s an update from the day’s Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Takedown carnage:

Contestants brung it. Of course they brung it. This time I invited 6 past winners from takedowns to invent their own beautiful fusion of chocolate and peppers. This was a celebrity takedown of sorts.

Katie and Anne’s Chocolate Chile Bread Pudding was the crowd favorite! Fans following the Takedown will recall, a bacon bread pudding won Nashville’s Bacon Takedown. Clearly, bread pudding is the filthy desire of America’s foremost gourmands!

Such a smart idea to buy your tickets in advance for the Lamb Takedown!!!

As a side note: want to hit 1 million  on the Scoville scale? I was recently informed just who it is that creates the dreaded Dorset Naga.  Sea Spring Seeds, Peppers By Post, and Dorsetnaga.com are all the same entity for owners Michael and Joy Michaud in the UK. Buy seeds off these people, and grow your own.  Gardening can be a tough sport. Man I am really tooting the horn for these people!

The Home of Country Music. The Bacon Takedown has a new best love and that is Nashville, because wow. Everything about this town is perfect! Everyone was good looking, fly, and nice- which I think is weird. Yo Nashville, what’s up with all the hospitality? The biggest bummer in America is leaving Nashville.

And this first takedown was beautiful- above Paradise Park in downtown Nashville.  This insanely insane outdoor space Aerial looks down on all the honkytonks. Just saying that word makes a my heart sing!

As usual, takedowners stepped up and reached into the bowels of their minds to create unheard-of dishes. We saw Bacon Bloody Mary’s, Bacon Chicken rolls, donuts, the list goes on..

October 3rd (the day before the Lamb Takedown!)- the Chili Takedown was invited to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens Chile Fiesta, to throw a small exhibition takedown, with six celebrity Takedown champs! They’re cooking up sweet and savory stuff that best utilizes chocolate and chiles together- truly a Dionysian combination! Expect your taste buds to violently explode while your writhe in agony from how much fun this is going to be! We’ll be at the aptly-named Chocolate and Chile Cabana from noon-2PM!

Contestants are each given 15lbs of lamb to cook with! Only 20 spots for chefs, so the first ones to email me get in on the action!!!

A fairly damp summer, cheered only by the latest BL product- BL Lime, which is perfect.  I went to the beach once,  and have the beginnings of a cocoa tan. And I have Takedowns on the way!!! So nobody panic – this summer has been a bit slow!

I can’t wait for events in Nashville, Philadelphia and Boston in the next few months, as well as an extra special event at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens! More details to follow, I just wanted you all to know that much is cooking! Prepare to be thrilled!!!!
